Cross-Country Ski and Snowshoe Day at The Fells

10am-3pm Experience winter at The Fells! It's a season of long nights, cold temperatures, and snow and ice, but still there's still lots going on outside at The Fells! Investigate the woodland and meadow trails by Nordic ski or snowshoes, warm up by the fire and enjoy hot cocoa at The Fells Gatehouse. Bring your own snowshoes and skis. Explore on your own for $5 per household or attend one of the programmed activities below. Takes place at The Fells, 456 Route 103A, Newbury, NH 03255. For more information www.thefells.org, info@thefells.org, 603-763-4789 x3. 11am--Knee High Nature: Winter World Join Lauren Cole-Johnson and learn the winter world of plants and animals through a puppet show, games, imaginative play and nature discovery walks. Appropriate for ages 3-6. Member child $2, nonmember child $5, (caregiver free). Limit of 16, call 603-763-4789 x3 for reservations. Meet at The Fells Gatehouse. 12:30pm--Trail-walk: Cross-Country Ski Fells Adventure Naturalist Lynn Johnson explores The Fells on a cross-country ski tour to the Main House and surrounding trails. Enjoy the beauty and solitude of winter as we seek to observe resident wildlife. Some cross-country ski experience required. BYO skis. Reservations not required. $5 donation per household requested. 1:30pm--Trail-walk: Family Snowshoe Hike Education Director Mary Kronenwetter leads a guided snowshoe hike through the woodlands and meadows of The Fells. BYO snowshoes. Appropriate for all ages and experience. Reservations not required. $5 donation per household requested.
